DON NOBLE, ARTIST
~
Don can’t remember a time when he wasn’t painting and drawing. Born and
raised in Torrance, California, he worked in a sign shop after school
during his junior and senior high school years. He continued painting
and air brushing, doing custom work pin striping and lettering
motorcycles, helmets, cars, and surfboard blanks while attending classes
at Harbor and El Camino colleges.
Drafted into the US Army, Don was sent to Viet Nam where he was wounded
in action. Reassigned to duty at Fort Ord, California, he resumed his
artistic activities working in the Post graphics department until his
discharge.
With military duty behind him, Don married Jessica and began a career in
the apparel industry. Free lancing and contracting his talents full
time, Don worked as Art Director, Creative Director, Designer and
Illustrator with highly visible companies such as Disney, Warner
Brothers, Aaron Spelling Productions, Graceland, Elvis Presley
Enterprises, Knotts Berry Farm, Playboy Entertainment, Hobie Apparel,
Kennington Shirt Company, and Crazy Shirts.
After thirty years in the profession, traveling all over the world,
meeting dead lines and keeping crazy schedules, Don decided to retire
and pursue his first love - decorating and painting large images on
walls.
Don and Jessica live in Newbury Park, California, and are grandparents
to six, including a set of triplets. Don keeps a busy schedule with
family activities and client projects throughout the areas of Ventura
County and Los Angeles.
